Greece’s government has set a record high for vacation packages, with people spending an average of 1.7 million euros a day in the country, the Financial Times reported on Tuesday.
The average of the previous year was 1.5 million euros.
The average price for the summer vacation package was set at 1.69 million euros, with prices for the winter vacation package rising to 1.9 million euros in July, and the winter package at 1 million euros last month.
A typical Greek summer vacation was spent with a family of five, with the average cost of a villa in the Athens area at 1,876 euros.
According to the Financial News Agency, the government expects the price of the villa and its amenities will continue to increase in the coming months.
Greece is now the world’s fifth largest economy, after Japan, Italy, France and Germany, and it accounts for almost 20 percent of world GDP.
